About Our School

Stay Safe Martial Arts started out as a group of guys just training in a basement together while the world was shut down during COVID.  Word began to spread of our "underground training" and before long we were running multiple classes on a weekly basis.  As we continued to grow, space began to get extremely tight which lead us to our new space in July 2024.  Lead by David Heineman, Stay Safe Martial Arts has proven to be a fun, yet competitive atmosphere where the ultimate goal is to get better each and every day.  This is done by not only pushing one another, but by pushing yourself as well.

About David Heineman

David Heineman has been involved with martial arts for nearly 30 years.  He began training in Tae Kwon Do at the age of 5, where he ultimately reached the level of 5th degree black belt.  He also received his black belt in Hapkido during this time.  In 2010, David began training in Boxing and Muay Thai (mostly under Richard Abraham), and still continues to train on a regular basis.  In 2013, David began training in Jiu Jitsu under Mike Cimm where he ultimately received his black belt in 2022.  Competition was a big part of David's journey in Jiu Jitsu in which he competed in local tournaments all the way to the biggest stages in the world with IBJJF Pans and Worlds.

David is extremely passionate when it comes to teaching self defense, especially women's self defense.  He has had the privilege of training under and teaching with some of the industries top instructors in the country, and is always looking for ways to improve.  David spent years traveling the country educating college students about sexual/domestic violence, has worked with countless law enforcement agencies, and continues to work with anyone that wants to learn how to protect themselves and loved ones.
